Compare with the SR71 which can do Mach4+.The engine would flame out due to dynamic shock/pressure waves from the rectangular inlet. Heating on the nose and leading edges would melt off much of the existing structures (SR71 nose and canopy vs. J10) at high mach. Also carries fuel and weapons externally; again not possible at Mach 4 unless the Chinese have incredibly new composites, glasses, explosives and fuels. Possible but that many breakthroughs of such magnitude would be impossible to keep a secret for very long.
