Half Deficit & Look at Them Leaves!

The Economy is purty good rite now--ya'll feelin' it? No? Well well...no suprise, since MSM doan say how good it is--unemployment way way low, interest rates so low I feel like runnin' out a buyin' somepin'.

Yesterday, the President said he was keepin' his promise: He said two years ago that his tax cuts would cut the federal deficit by half in five years, and wow--looky, the figures show they's snipped by half now--that is, in jes' three years.

247.7 billion - down from $520 billion in 2004.

Ain't bloggin' fer Bush, ya' understand, jes' wantin' to note that we Americans got it real good an oughta be more content than the acrimonious rhetoric indicates on the news night after ter night.

Seems there's more "news" if we'uns is kept frothed up over this or that issue--oh, I knows we IS devided on important matters--moral and philosophical. But let's recall how really good we have it as compared ter some folks. At least we is free enough ter squabble!

It's a fine time of year, autumn, good days ter be alive in....take yore family out ter see the beauty of it, pick a fat pumpkin, gets some Indian corn, make a scarecrow fer ya' yard even iffin' ya doan have a garden. Make some candy apples, spike a bit o' cider fer the grown-ups.

Get on out in the country a bit, see what a fine land we'uns love. Stop at roadside stands and git some fresh vegetables. Buy the local crafts and see what all ya' can learn about your county that ya' didn't know--we have a ole' school house that is made up jes' like in the 1880's close by and it shure is fun fer the young'uns. An' we found a place that teaches ya' how ter do ole fashioned "Scrap quiltin'".

It's a good country ter be alive in...be of good cheer.

i think there's some funny numbers in there for sure.

Yeah, but the jury is still out if that's regan's doing or clinton's bird :-)

Aunty, actually a friend of mine and me the other day were out back talking till about five in the morning over a few beers and for about a long while about how incredibly lucky we are to have been given the lot we have in life. Actually I think the words were "we hit the jackpot". Just goes to show ya, the youth of America ain't lost just yet ;-)

Nope Bird, he din't start wif' a defict --or a tower attack and the need to keep the islamafaccists off our necks--

Folks, we have falling gas prices, rising DOW averages, stable interest rates, low low unemployment, mercy, but there does come a time to enjoy what yer experiencin' --ole folks can tell ya', ain't so many times this heah good.

(Like the woman at 35 who carps about her thighs...rite now is they's the best they gonna be honey, so enjoy them now cause in a few years they's only gonna jiggle more--so quit complainin' a go fer a swim.)

I do appreciate gas prices coming down, really I do...
but I can't help but think they are coming down at an awfully convenient time...right before the elections.
..and I'd say the same thing if we had a democrat in office..

I've lived in Germany and the U.S...
both have their pros, both have their cons......and I've loved living in both places.

Schaumi, tell us what is pro an' con in Germany...nver been theah.

One of these days I might, aunty belle...
but i can give you one seemingly superficial, yet very important basic pro:
bread.....
my mississippi uncle (in his 80s) still talks about the bread he ate in Germany during WWII.
I was shocked when I moved into a small southern US town over 20 years ago to find only white bread (con). I did learn to bake bread though (pro) as a consequence. And luckily we have many more tasty choices in our stores these days, but it still ain't the same.
