Russia sees US states in Civil War

Heh...well, nobody is surprised to see Russia hopin' we's all gonna crack an' civil war is on the US horizon. Then Russia will git Alaska as a prize...Japan gits Hawaii...the efete elite of the Northeastern states will demand entry into the EU. The Chinese take California and Seattle too.
Russia, of course, "resumes" her rightful place in world dominance.

In case y'all's missed it, here is a WSJ article detailing the prophecy of a former KGB officer now making the Russian Oprah & The View rounds:

****

MOSCOW -- For a decade, Russian academic Igor Panarin has been predicting the U.S. will fall apart in 2010. For most of that time, he admits, few took his argument -- that an economic and moral collapse will trigger a civil war and the eventual breakup of the U.S. -- very seriously. Now he's found an eager audience: Russian state media.

[Prof. Panarin]

Igor Panarin

In recent weeks, he's been interviewed as much as twice a day about his predictions. "It's a record," says Prof. Panarin. "But I think the attention is going to grow even stronger."

Prof. Panarin, 50 years old, is not a fringe figure. A former KGB analyst, he is dean of the Russian Foreign Ministry's academy for future diplomats. He is invited to Kremlin receptions, lectures students, publishes books, and appears in the media as an expert on U.S.-Russia relations.

But it's his bleak forecast for the U.S. that is music to the ears of the Kremlin, which in recent years has blamed Washington for everything from instability in the Middle East to the global financial crisis. Mr. Panarin's views also fit neatly with the Kremlin's narrative that Russia is returning to its rightful place on the world stage after the weakness of the 1990s, when many feared that the country would go economically and politically bankrupt and break into separate territories.

A polite and cheerful man with a buzz cut, Mr. Panarin insists he does not dislike Americans. But he warns that the outlook for them is dire.

"There's a 55-45% chance right now that disintegration will occur," he says. "One could rejoice in that process," he adds, poker-faced. "But if we're talking reasonably, it's not the best scenario -- for Russia." Though Russia would become more powerful on the global stage, he says, its economy would suffer because it currently depends heavily on the dollar and on trade with the U.S.

Mr. Panarin posits, in brief, that mass immigration, economic decline, and moral degradation will trigger a civil war next fall and the collapse of the dollar. Around the end of June 2010, or early July, he says, the U.S. will break into six pieces -- with Alaska reverting to Russian control.

In addition to increasing coverage in state media, which are tightly controlled by the Kremlin, Mr. Panarin's ideas are now being widely discussed among local experts. He presented his theory at a recent roundtable discussion at the Foreign Ministry. The country's top international relations school has hosted him as a keynote speaker. During an appearance on the state TV channel Rossiya, the station cut between his comments and TV footage of lines at soup kitchens and crowds of homeless people in the U.S. The professor has also been featured on the Kremlin's English-language propaganda channel, Russia Today.

Mr. Panarin's apocalyptic vision "reflects a very pronounced degree of anti-Americanism in Russia today," says Vladimir Pozner, a prominent TV journalist in Russia. "It's much stronger than it was in the Soviet Union."

Mr. Pozner and other Russian commentators and experts on the U.S. dismiss Mr. Panarin's predictions. "Crazy ideas are not usually discussed by serious people," says Sergei Rogov, director of the government-run Institute for U.S. and Canadian Studies, who thinks Mr. Panarin's theories don't hold water.

Mr. Panarin's résumé includes many years in the Soviet KGB, an experience shared by other top Russian officials. His office, in downtown Moscow, shows his national pride, with pennants on the wall bearing the emblem of the FSB, the KGB's successor agency. It is also full of statuettes of eagles; a double-headed eagle was the symbol of czarist Russia.

The professor says he began his career in the KGB in 1976. In post-Soviet Russia, he got a doctorate in political science, studied U.S. economics, and worked for FAPSI, then the Russian equivalent of the U.S. National Security Agency. He says he did strategy forecasts for then-President Boris Yeltsin, adding that the details are "classified."

In September 1998, he attended a conference in Linz, Austria, devoted to information warfare, the use of data to get an edge over a rival. It was there, in front of 400 fellow delegates, that he first presented his theory about the collapse of the U.S. in 2010.

"When I pushed the button on my computer and the map of the United States disintegrated, hundreds of people cried out in surprise," he remembers. He says most in the audience were skeptical. "They didn't believe me."

At the end of the presentation, he says many delegates asked him to autograph copies of the map showing a dismembered U.S.

He based the forecast on classified data supplied to him by FAPSI analysts, he says. He predicts that economic, financial and demographic trends will provoke a political and social crisis in the U.S. When the going gets tough, he says, wealthier states will withhold funds from the federal government and effectively secede from the union. Social unrest up to and including a civil war will follow. The U.S. will then split along ethnic lines, and foreign powers will move in.

California will form the nucleus of what he calls "The Californian Republic," and will be part of China or under Chinese influence. Texas will be the heart of "The Texas Republic," a cluster of states that will go to Mexico or fall under Mexican influence. Washington, D.C., and New York will be part of an "Atlantic America" that may join the European Union. Canada will grab a group of Northern states Prof. Panarin calls "The Central North American Republic." Hawaii, he suggests, will be a protectorate of Japan or China, and Alaska will be subsumed into Russia.

"It would be reasonable for Russia to lay claim to Alaska; it was part of the Russian Empire for a long time." A framed satellite image of the Bering Strait that separates Alaska from Russia like a thread hangs from his office wall. "It's not there for no reason," he says with a sly grin.

Interest in his forecast revived this fall when he published an article in Izvestia, one of Russia's biggest national dailies. In it, he reiterated his theory, called U.S. foreign debt "a pyramid scheme," and predicted China and Russia would usurp Washington's role as a global financial regulator.

Americans hope President-elect Barack Obama "can work miracles," he wrote. "But when spring comes, it will be clear that there are no miracles."

The article prompted a question about the White House's reaction to Prof. Panarin's forecast at a December news conference. "I'll have to decline to comment," spokeswoman Dana Perino said amid much laughter.

For Prof. Panarin, Ms. Perino's response was significant. "The way the answer was phrased was an indication that my views are being listened to very carefully," he says.

The professor says he's convinced that people are taking his theory more seriously. People like him have forecast similar cataclysms before, he says, and been right. He cites French political scientist Emmanuel Todd. Mr. Todd is famous for having rightly forecast the demise of the Soviet Union -- 15 years beforehand. "When he forecast the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1976, people laughed at him," says Prof. Panarin.

The funniest part is the "Mexican influence," 'cause the Mexican goobernment is a powerful force to reckon with.
Texas is just waiting to go over to Mexico right now.

Anyone ever watch that short-lived television show, Jericho? Where the U.S. broke up into pieces parts because of nuclear war? It was pretty stinky, but one episode showed a map of the new U.S., broken down into various new Federal Republics. Then there was the lone holdout: the United States of Texas.

I'm with Gnome: Texas LET Mexico rule anything? Yeah, right. Texas has been chomping at the bit since the dawn of time to secede. And just look at that map: we got good weather, good food, a butt load of guns, AND a few Neiman's to boot.

Heck, why not? Count Moi in.

The ghosts of Boone, Bowie and Houston alone would wipe the Mexican army off the map.

I'd buy tickets to watch.

I saw this too and said...
"It could happen any day", "Am I ready?" The answer is YES.
I actually catch their drift, dem haters. But I think the change that we need is near, and no, is not Bombama.
I am on an imperialist mood today Aunty.

The map is ridiculous but a realignment of the Sovereign States is possible.

I hears all y'all. AS a un reconstructed SOUTHERNER, I'se always favored secession on the basis of State's rights--meanin' I favor stronger states, lessenin' the Federal power--result is that we have a loose "United" states, and stronger regions....

but fer all that--lemme tell ya'll the truth of the way it is:

The UN does have a similar map folks-has had it for years--denied it, but through the work of US Cattleman's Association and Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchinson of Texas congress has seen the map an jes' in time to forestall the USA signin' a deadly treaty wif the UN...anyhoo, the question ya might be askin' ois why does the UN have such a map? Why, cause, mah Chickens, they have a global Regions Map of the way they want the world divided up for global governance (their term) or global government (mah term).

Fer the record, Bill Clinton done said he thought this was "the way of the future"..so we is jes sittin' ducks, while they engineer "events" and "crisis" to the point that the whole world clamors for "peace" and "Control" even if it means a global currency--the idea floated at the last G-8--or a global "Peace force" (read global police force)as the UN has already asked the nations to fund (and BoMama agrees to give the UN .07% of US GDP)

Oh dear, doan git me started, or ya'll be seein' snakes on yore ceilin'.

the map aunty is talking about is on the UN pages under "agenda 21". i know, i know it sounds silly but it identifies the areas where people can live and not live "to protect biodiversity" ...i found it...the map is here

http://robodoon.com/AGNEDA%2021%20MAP.jpg

its annoying to read UN plans for our sovereign nation (or formerly sovereign nation)..its part of the whole global "for the greater good" lie to control peoples ability to be independent of the state. the fact that congress wrote into law that the state can take any property it wants in exchange for fair market value should have us armed with pitchforks and torches. but no. not even a giant rip off got the people stirred enough to revolt.

baaaaaa baaaaaaa baaaaaaa

i think LA RAZA may have something to say about the chinese takeover of cali. grrrrrrherhahahahaha

Gnome, can ya phone home? I miss ya.
Anyhoo--ya's funny--and right!

Kem@yahoo: Right ON!!

Moi, mah Presidentia, sigh...who's they kiddin'? Ain't gonna be no take over of Texas to Florida--been thar' done that.

Mr. Q!!! Oh Sweet Thang, yore Aunty is so happy to hear from ya! AN' we hears ya on this--oh yeah, a whole other change. Some I knows of in yore similar line of work agress wif ya. Heh.

Troll-Man, uh-huh. I thoink an internal realignment is a good idee--ya'll Blue state folks all git to keep the North East, the Red blooded Americans will manage the rest. Howl!!

Dawg!! Wow, youse a good hound dawg--ya sniffed out Agenda 21 an' founs the infamous map!! Aunty has a whole implementation manual straight from the bowels of the UN Beast.

Fer the record, GHW Bush was on duty at the time--he refused to sign the thang down in Rio, cause he said it would bankrupt the country. But the UN has jes marched on--thas' one reason why the Euro axis grew to power at the UN--they see the thang as one way to level the world back to Euro domination days.

Mayhap I'se gonna do a back porch series to lay it all out--but it will git mah blood pressure up, I can tell ya'.

GOOD work, Pup!!

But Auntie, there is more. Bill Clinton initiated the Presidents Council on Sustainable Development. Now every local functionary sees how he/she can implement the tyranny.

A few years back I met a fella from Canada, with a doctorate in
" urban planning and resource management". He was doing some "research" over in "Jawja" on what he called "urban realignments" He came over to my town for a weekend festival with a mutual friend.

While we were traveling around the green and rolling farmlands he just seemed to get madder by the minute then turned to me and Blowfish and asked why in hell we chose to live in such an irresponsible place? The affront that set this fella off was the number of private homes with 5 or 10 acres each which HE classified as "frivolous and irresponsible". We tried to put the Whoa! on his thinking but were unsuccessful.

Later that evening we were all at the pond having some fine Southern Q when he got all angry again and railed against the size of our home and property as being predictable of American "greed and gluttony". He went on to say how irresponsible we were to live this way when it would be "just" if there were ELEVEN houses and FORTY FOUR people living here.
( Note! we live within city limits on a 1.3 acre lot with a comfy old house devoid of any showiness)

Blowfish wouldn't let me drown him, which was my preference.

He was in his cups more than a tad and railed heavily against Americans...we invited him to return to Canada promptly and off our property even quicker. He explained to the folks gathered he was assigned to study ATL by the UN for research on improving biodiversity greenbelts and "contained" populous zones. YELLED loudly about the Americans tendency to sprawl with no consciousness of the world's needs for our resources. He went onto smirk about the coming "staged de-construction of America" that would give us all our long overdue comeuppance.

I LOATHED that man and feared his comments...our mutual friend said not to worry he was just drunk....
he surely had plenty of liquor on board but his commentary was too specific to be manufactured. His diatribe gave me some serious nightmares. I even asked an attorney friend if properties held by a trust were more likely to be exempt from government interference than a typical family home.

So if what he was saying was true, he was assigned to the Atlanta region of the USA by the UN some 5 years ago. Makes you wonder how many like him are at work in this country and what progress they are making.

I seriously wanted to shoot that man and felt certain most Americans would not lay down for this stealth of our principles and our lands.

Now, following the success of the juggernaut that funded and marketed Obama into the White House,I am not so sure and I am beyond terrified.

I 100% disagree with the "professor". In Russia, he is a professor. Here in the US, he would be a research student at most. The predictions he make is based on what happened in Russia. The cultures are different. We are much more open culture/society than any others on earth. We chose to become open. Therefore, we will not go back to the dark days of Civil war. That is the fundamental truth. Only the people of the USA can understand that.
