C'mon Cousins!!! Can the Brits survive?

The Irish voted NO, the Brits were not given the chance to vote--the Lisbon Treaty foms the EU into a United States of Europe --all Europe to be ruled from Strasbourg. Cheer for the backlash!!

He could have stood up at the Obamessia news conference last night and said nearly the same words.
You can't keep squeezing the productive bits...so freakin' true!

Dang! Good job I have a bit of self-control. I'm at the lieberry, where I sponge off their broadband to watch veejos and such, and it was all I could do to NOT unplug the headphones and turn up the volume. 8-}

What gits me is the stats--that each UK chile born will have so much debt that the debt service is more than the cost of education for the chile! Born into debt -slavery!!

" The Internet has changed politics"

so said Daniel Hannan after the youtube clip went viral:

The internet has changed politics - changed it utterly and forever. Twenty-four hours ago, I made a three-minute speech in the European Parliament, aimed at Gordon Brown. I tipped off the BBC and some of the newspaper correspondents but, unsurprisingly, they ignored me: I am, after all, simply a backbench MEP.

When I woke up this morning, my phone was clogged with texts, my email inbox with messages. Overnight, the YouTube clip of my remarks had attracted over 36,000 hits. By today, it was the most watched video in Britain.

How did it happen, in the absence of any media coverage? The answer is that political reporters no longer get to decide what's news. The days when a minister gave briefings to a dozen lobby correspondents, and thereby dictated the next day's headlines, are over. Now, a thousand bloggers decide for themselves what is interesting. If enough of them are tickled then, bingo, you're news. (Huge thanks to all those who linked: Guido, Iain Dale, Tim Montgomerie, James Delingpole, Donal Blaney, Dizzy, Devil, James Forsyth, PoliticalBetting, Gerald Warner and the rest. And jumbo thanks to all the American bloggers: you chaps are way ahead of us in this regard.)

I heard this a couple days ago, don't remember where, and remember thinking: wow. presence and sound mind. You don't find that often in a politician.

Yes.

Intriguing how there is always a long queue of smart alecs to point out why everything went wrong after it went wrong, but an extreme shortage of smart alecs to tell us what to do next.

Perhaps this smart alec will be different?

I fancy not.

Invest your hope in your own (personal) industry.
Not the rhetoric of the ruling class.

yeah ardliar. the smart alecs who tried to warn everybody about how O baaa Ma would "go wrong" are known as "racists" over here. those who have a different view of "what to do next" are also "racists" when they disagree with oh, say shaking down half of the country to finance the other half -the other half with the free time to community organize. grrrrrrrhahahahahahaha

the ruling class is the political class. the political class is the ruling class.

Ardlair said...

Yes K9 we are agreed on that.
Remember however that we (UK) are still shackled with the remnants of a true class (by birth) structure, and he (Hannan) is of the class that made your forefathers get on the Mayflower in the first place.

So it is rather amusing to hear you all now loving him up.

Ardlair, tsk tsk, are you whining about class?

I assure ya ole chap, I'd prefer a classy king to a rabble raised thug in a suit.

Jes' a wee point of history: plenty of "class" got on boats and relocated on these shores for reasons of philosophy, religion, adventure, opportunity, etc. By no means was we settled by class-less whiny-cry babies.

Ardlair,

Actually, Mr. Hannan (and dozens of prominent Conservative Americans) have been quite clear and reasonably specific about what to do next.

Perhaps if you didn't live in an information ghetto of your own creation, you'd have heard them.

Ardlair, dearie, Troll is correct. Your Mr. Hannan has written several books, has a degree in Modern History and offers you chaps a 12 month plan to reverse the sucking vortex that pulls you toward oblivion.
