HOW LONG DO WE HAVE?

From a lawyer friend:

How Long Do We Have?

About the time our original thirteen states adopted their new constitution in 1787, Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the University of Edinburgh , had this to say about the fall of the Athenian Republic some 2,000 years earlier:

'A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government.'

'A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury.'

'From that moment on, the majority always vote for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury,

with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship.'

'The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years'

'During those 200 years, those nations always progressed through the following sequence:

1. From bondage to spiritual faith;

2. From spiritual faith to great courage;

3. From courage to liberty;

4. From liberty to abundance;

5. From abundance to complacency;

6. From complacency to apathy;

7. From apathy to dependence;

8. From dependence back into bondage'

Professor Joseph Olson of Hemline University School of Law, St. Paul , Minnesota , points out some interesting facts concerning the 2000 Presidential election:

Number of States won by: Democrats: 19 Republicans: 29

Square miles of land won by: Democrats: 580,000 Republicans: 2,427,000

Population of counties won by: Democrats: 127 million Republicans: 143 million

Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by: Democrats: 13.2 Republicans: 2.1

Professor Olson adds:

'In aggregate, the map of the territory Republican won was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of this great country. Democrat territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in government-owned tenements and living off variousforms of government welfare...'

Olson believes the United States is now somewhere between the 'complacency and apathy' phase of Professor Tyler's definition of democracy, with some forty percent of the nation's population already having reached the 'governmental dependency' phase.

If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to twenty million criminal invaders called illegals and they vote, then we can say goodbye to the USA in fewer than five years.

If you are in favor of this, then by all means, delete this message. If you are not, then pass this along to help everyone realize just how much is at stake, knowing that apathy is the greatest danger to our freedom.

Yes Aunty, the destruction of the United States has been going on for some time. The Left has taken a page from Antonio Gramsci, the Italian communist who taught that the Left would capture the institutions of the target nation, i.e. the university, the media, the arts and the popular culture while simultaneously undermining Christianity, which Gramsci considered the biggest obstacle to collectivism.

Illegal immigration is just one of the stratagems, but it is an effective one. Multiculturalism and ethnic identity politics have transformed our American society from a generally homogeneous one into a collection of tribes who are hostile to one another and who have no sense of a shared tradition, history, language or culture.

How much time do we have left? Probably not much. The hour is late.

One can only hope that a modern Arthur will come along and seize the sword from the stone and lead us against the modern barbarians who wish only to sack the City, drain the Treasury, and turn us into another Third World tyranny where the citizens are reduced to serfdom.

Though so-and-so may have said it more recently, I think the original quote actually comes from Phinias (spelling) the Greek (righ?) or one of his (or close too it) contemporaries. I have to dig into that some time. But the age of a democracy was set at 200 years, give or take, a long time ago.

However, we do not live in a democracy, or that is not how it was set up. This is supposed to be a republican democracy. As long as the republican comes before democracy, we can hold longer. How much has been eroded of that is anyone's guess, though we all know the republic is weaker and the democracy is stronger, at the moment and for decades past.

The current admin, and I would say the last dozen, to some degree minus Reagan, have all been out there with pick, chisel and hammer, and whatever other tools they have at hand, trying to undermine the republican part. This and the last administration simply used the financial "crisis" (really just a normal readjustment which should have been allowed to continue, sort of like a natural forest fire, to clean out the financial failings), to grab power and insert socialism.

Now, the question remains, how much and how much longer can the republic live? Is there any way to restore it? Is there anyone who stands a chance at rising to the task, or who could be persuaded to undo the harm?

I am honestly not even sure a civil war would do it. We would just end up, minimally short term possibly long term, totally under one side or the other, with the losing side on the run. A good thing, if we won, but not better than the original way of things.

I think it comes down to the republican side of things. It's health is paramount. To fix it, voting would have to go strictly to tax payers (that used to be landowners, but now would be anyone working for a living and paying taxes on that, I suppose), egalitarian would have to be undone, and institutions would have to be restructured in a draconian manner. It would end up in a civil war. But if it was done that way, and a civil war was forced by the opposition, then the war could be won and success had. But not the other way around.

Sorry, just thinking it out as I write...

add to that list of democratic voters the elite effete whose idea of evolution is self destruction dressed as compassion and tolerance.

the republicans are gutless losers as well so there is very little to stop the totalitarian rolling acorn of death.

its a very critical time. its why i effectively changed my lifestyle.

This is what I've been the lone voice in the wilderness on for decades. Will have to look up this Professor. Because NOBODY is talking about what the FOUNDERS saw as the biggest threat to the American Experiment.

Bloc voting by ill-informed urbanites resulting in a permanent political ruling class with ideas and priorities that people occupying the vast majority of the land-mass of the Nation didn't agree with. A ruling class that puts PARTY ahead of Nation.

EXACTLY what we have today!

There is another way. It's called Anarcho-Capitalism. It's never been tried, so why the heck not? But I believe the only way TO try it – initially at least – is small scale. Like, if New Hampshire (http://www.freestateproject.org/) actually got itself off the ground.
